e-Sword v9.6.0

e-SwordVersion 9.6.0 of the excellent, free e-Sword Bible study software has been released.

You can learn more about e-Sword here, and you can download the latest update here.

Version 9.6.0 isn’t a major update.  However, it does introduce features that allow you to highlight and mark commentary and dictionary modules.  Previously, you could only highlight and mark Bible modules.  A full range of formatting options are also available for Study Notes and (unlocked) Topic Notes.

Highlight and Mark

These are welcome features for those of us who like to annotate their study materials.  e-Sword is my study software of choice, and I am always looking forward to “what’s next”!  (I’m dreaming of an e-Sword iPhone / iPad companion application…)

  3. Hi, Nathan. I haven’t done much work with Android devices yet, but I would recommend OliveTree BibleReader as a good place to start: http://www.olivetree.com/android/index.php

  4. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have sword for my iPad. I have had it on my regular computer and would love to have it here! It is the BEST program I have ever used! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE and of course, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Pat Hall

  5. Hi, I used e Sword a lot in the past to prepare my sermons. But since I changed to Mac, I haven’t found the comparable “Calibre” as the e Sword. I know that I can install windows in my Mac and run what ever windows program, but I just don’t want to do that cause I really like the native mac programs and really through with all the viruses, spams and what have you…

Can you really recommend me a very good comparable Bible software as good as e Sword? I’m using You Version. It is really great just for reading the Bible, but not it is not for sermon or study type kind of a software. I don’t really like Olive tree cause you have to pay for most of the bible books.

Thank you and God bless you!!

  6. Hi, Daniel! You can run e-Sword on Mac using CrossOver: http://psalm4.org/?p=1099. CrossOver does not use Windows, so it may be just the solution you need. Hope this helps!

  8. Hi, Sanele! I’m not sure if Rick Meyers is working on an iPad companion app for e-Sword. You may want to submit a question or request here: http://www.e-sword.net/feedback.html.

In the meantime, you may want to check out iPad Bible study alternatives here and here.

I need e-sword on my iPad. It will not be the ultimate e-reader without it!

  11. Hi, Marius. I completely agree!

Be sure to submit your feature request for an e-Sword iPad app to the developer here: http://www.e-sword.net/feedback.html

The more of us that join the chorus of calls for an iPad app, the better. :)

  12. I need e-sword bible apps. I use iPad 2 and would be glad to see the developers come up with a version for iPad. One is not complete without it. More kudos to the developers. God is doing a great work through you.

  16. I second the desire for an IPAD – e-sword app. My laptop is to big to take to services and would make a lot of noise…plus the battery life would be suspect. MY IPAD would be ideal and I would love to be able to look up verses and see things in the scriptures from my the IPAD. Also an I-phone app would be great – as 4G becomes more standard.

  17. I NEED EE-SWORD ON MY iPAD 2 even though I have Olivetree. I pray I/we will not have long to wait. It seems the need is there and “ASAP” is very much the shout from one and all. PLEASE ASAP>

  21. Have you developed e-Sword to use on Android tablets as yet. I could sure use such it. Thanks.

  22. Hi Cliff,

e-Sword isn’t available for Android devices. (However, it has been released for iPads: http://www.e-sword.net/ipad/)

There’s a similar, free Bible study app for Android devices, called MySword: http://www.mysword.info/

You can download free resources for MySword here: http://www.biblesupport.com/e-sword-downloads/category/26-mysword-modules/

If you’d like to see an Android version of e-Sword, I’d recommend submitting a feature request to the developer here: http://www.e-sword.net/feedback.html

  23. Will there ever be a E-sword program for Android Tablets?

  24. I’m not sure. I’d recommend asking the e-Sword developer here: http://www.e-sword.net/feedback.html
